Two Days in Wakulla County, One to go

I checked into Newport campgrounds on Wednesday and got out fishing yesterday and today, Friday the 7th.

On Thursday I started off at a place called Wakilla Beach around 8:15 am. The winds were non existent and humidity high, I was looking forward to get moving in the kayak. Unfortunately, the bay was absolutely loaded with floating grass which became the nuisance all day long. I probably traveled around 8 miles looking for my first fish.

It was a long hit morning and not till around 11:00 when the wind finally starting to develop, what a blessing. Unfortunately, the winds continued building until they were producing small white caps by the time I gave up for the day.

Bottom line, I got skunked! But it was great to be out on the water!

On Friday I had much more action then the day before; although, I had to work to get it. I lunched around 8:30 and there was a light breeze, yay! This day I traveled around 10 miles, but caught 8-9 trout and 1 flounder. By the way, I think I found out how to track my distance so I can stop reporting about this many.

Another great day on the Florida coastline kayak fishing tour!
